Direct Object Pronoun

In Italian we can often replace the direct object with a direct object pronoun to save time. This pronoun goes before the verb.

  1. Tu leggi un libro. - Tu lo leggi. (You read a book. You read it.)

  2. Noi vediamo la mia amica. - Noi la vediamo. (We see my friend. - We see her.)

The singular direct object pronouns:

  1. mi (me)

  2. ti (you)

  3. lo (m. him/it)

  4. la (f. her/it)

Plural:

  1. ci (us)

  2. vi (you all)

  3. li (m. them)

  4. le (f. them)
